Stop Drinking — Safely, From Home

Quitting alcohol can feel overwhelming — but you don’t have to do it alone, or in a clinic.
AIR Detox brings personalised medical care to your doorstep, helping you safely detox from alcohol at home with daily doctor support. After your 7-day detox, we’ll create a tailored recovery plan and check in regularly for 12 months to help you stay on track.

Your recovery starts here — safely, privately, and on your terms.

Is A Home Detox Right For Me?

Our doctor-led home detox program is designed for people who want to stop drinking alcohol safely, without going to hospital or rehab. You may benefit from this service if you:

  • Drink daily or most days
  • Have tried to cut back but found it hard
  • Feel unwell (shakes, sweats, anxiety, poor sleep) when not drinking
  • Worry alcohol is affecting your health, relationships, or responsibilities
  • Want medical support in the privacy of your home
  • Need a flexible program that fits around work or parenting

You don’t need a referral — just reach out for a confidential, judgement-free chat.

What To Expect

Your step-by-step guide to our alcohol home detox program

Stage 1. Preparation (1—2 weeks)

Before we begin your detox, we take several important steps to ensure everything is safe, supported, and tailored to you.

Your journey starts with a free comprehensive medical assessment with our doctor. We’ll take the time to understand your health history and relationship with alcohol, so we can design a personalised home detox plan that meets your individual needs.

We’ll also meet with your nominated support person, explaining their role and answering any questions they may have. This person plays an important part in helping you stay safe and comfortable throughout the detox process.

You’ll then need to complete routine blood tests and begin taking vitamin B1 (thiamine) — an essential vitamin that helps protect your brain during alcohol withdrawal.

There’s usually about a one-to-two-week preparation period between your first appointment and the start of your detox. This gives your body time to build up essential vitamin stores and allows us to review your blood test results, finalise your medications, and make sure everything is in place for a safe and supported detox at home. Although you’ll continue drinking during this time, your recovery has already begun — every step you take now is preparing you for success.

Stage 2. Alcohol Home Detox (1 week)

Each morning during your alcohol home detox, you’ll have a scheduled appointment with our doctor to check on your progress, manage any withdrawal symptoms or cravings, and adjust your medications if needed. You’ll also receive ongoing support throughout the day, with regular check-ins to ensure you remain comfortable, safe, and well cared for.

You and your support person will have direct access to your doctor at all times during the detox. If any questions or concerns arise, help is just a phone call away.

The entire process takes place in the privacy and comfort of your own home — no hospitals, waiting rooms, or prying eyes. This discreet, medically supervised detox allows you to maintain your routine and responsibilities while receiving high-quality care, so you can begin your recovery journey with dignity and support.

Stage 3. Aftercare (12 months)

We understand that detox is just the first step toward lasting change — and you won’t be doing it alone.

Together, we’ll create a personalised aftercare plan that reflects your goals, lifestyle, and preferences. This plan might include follow-up with your GP, mental health support, group programs, or other local services — whatever will help you stay on track.

Over the next 12 months, we’ll check in with you regularly to celebrate your progress, work through any challenges, and adjust your recovery plan as life evolves. You’ll continue to have access to our team for guidance and support throughout your journey.

With the right plan in place — and the right people in your corner — you’ll have the confidence to build a life that feels strong, healthy, and alcohol-free.

What Our Patients Say

Eligibility Criteria

Who can safely detox at home from alcohol?

Most people are eligible for our alcohol home detox because we provide close medical supervision. However, to ensure your safety, you must have a support person who can stay with you during the seven-day withdrawal period. A support person is usually a loved one or close friend who you would like to be involved in your care. They don’t need any medical training and just need to keep a close eye on you at whilst you detox at home.
