At AIR Detox, safety, quality and professionalism are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to announce that AIR Detox has officially achieved accreditation under the QIC Health and Community Services Standards (7th Edition v1.1, 2024), one of Australia’s trusted and nationally recognised frameworks for ensuring high-quality, person-centred healthcare.
This accreditation is an important milestone for our service and demonstrates our commitment to safe, accountable and evidence-based medical home detox services across Australia.
Why We Chose To Pursue QIC Accreditation
Choosing to undergo accreditation was a deliberate and voluntary step. As Australia’s doctor-led, medically supervised home detox service, we wanted independent verification that our systems, governance and clinical practices meet national expectations for safety and quality.
The QIC accreditation process involved a comprehensive external review of our service, including:
- Clinical governance and medical oversight
- Client safety, privacy and risk management
- Cultural safety and inclusivity
- Workforce credentialing, training and supervision
- Organisational leadership, ethics and accountability
- Continuous quality improvement systems
Undergoing this rigorous assessment reflects our commitment to transparency and excellence. It provides assurance to patients, clinicians and funders that AIR Detox is a professionally governed, accredited home detox service that meets nationally recognised AOD quality standards.
What the QIC Standards Are
The QIC Health and Community Services Standards are one of Australia’s longest-standing health and community sector accreditation frameworks. They assess whether an organisation delivers safe, effective and person-centred care, and whether it has sound governance, quality systems and responsible clinical processes.
Importantly, the QIC Standards are one of the few accreditation pathways recognised under the National Quality Framework for Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services. This means:
- QIC accreditation is accepted nationally
- It is relevant to AOD treatment, withdrawal support and community-based care
- It demonstrates that AIR Detox meets independent benchmarks for safety and quality
Achieving QIC accreditation provides confidence that AIR Detox is a credible, well-governed medical service delivering safe and effective withdrawal management in the home environment.
What Accreditation Means for Our Patients
For individuals beginning their recovery from alcohol, cannabis or cocaine, QIC accreditation reinforces the quality and safety of our service. It means:
- Your detox is doctor-led, structured and evidence-based
- Your personal information is handled securely and ethically
- Your safety is prioritised at every stage
- Our clinical protocols align with national expectations for withdrawal management
- Our team is trained, supervised and supported
- We continuously monitor and improve our service
- Your care sits within a legitimate, accredited healthcare organisation
Accreditation ensures you can trust that your treatment is delivered with strong governance, responsible prescribing practices and comprehensive medical oversight.
What Accreditation Means for Referring Clinicians
For GPs, psychologists, psychiatrists, hospitals and community organisations, QIC accreditation provides reassurance that AIR Detox:
- Meets a nationally recognised quality standard for AOD treatment
- Operates with strong medical governance and clinical accountability
- Uses structured, evidence-based withdrawal management protocols
- Has robust assessment, safety screening and escalation pathways
- Upholds ethical prescribing and documentation standards
- Aligns with quality expectations frequently required by PHNs and commissioning bodies
- Complements care provided in general practice and mental health settings
Referral pathways become clearer, safer and more transparent, ensuring that your patients receive well-governed, medically supervised home detox care that integrates seamlessly with ongoing primary and mental health care. Visit our Clinicians page for more information.
Our Ongoing Commitment To Quality & Safety
Accreditation is not a one-off badge, it’s an ongoing commitment to quality and safety. As part of the QIC framework, AIR Detox will continue to:
- Review and update our clinical and operational protocols
- Maintain strong governance and risk management systems
- Collect and evaluate patient outcomes and feedback
- Train and supervise our clinical workforce
- Conduct internal audits and quality checks
- Prepare for reaccreditation cycles
- Strengthen partnerships with PHNs, clinicians and community organisations
Our mission remains clear: to provide the safest, most supportive and effective medically supervised home detox service in Australia.
