AIR Detox Launches Fully Funded Alcohol Home Detox Pilot Program for Eligible Gold Coast Residents, thanks to Gold Coast PHN Funding
AIR Detox is proud to announce a new partnership with the Gold Coast Primary Health Network (Gold Coast PHN), QuIHN, and Lives Lived Well to launch a fully funded pilot program offering in-home alcohol detox services to eligible Gold Coast residents.
This pilot program is designed to support a limited number of patients who may not otherwise be able to afford private detox services. Selected patients referred through QuIHN and Lives Lived Well will receive the in-person AIR Home Detox program — including a 7-day in-home detox and three months of aftercare — fully funded by Gold Coast PHN.
“From the beginning, our goal has been to reduce barriers to detox. This partnership gives us the opportunity to help more people take that critical first step toward recovery — in a safe, supported, and affordable way.”
About the Program
AIR Detox provides a discreet, evidence-based alcohol withdrawal program delivered entirely in the comfort and privacy of the patient’s home. The service includes:
- Daily home visits from an experienced doctor
- Prescription medications to safely manage withdrawal symptoms
- 24-hour clinical phone support throughout the detox period
- A personalised aftercare plan and three months of follow-up appointments with our doctor to support long-term recovery
This structured and supportive approach is designed to help patients detox safely, stay on track, and begin making sustainable changes to their health and lifestyle.
Visit our Alcohol Home Detox Program page to learn more about how the service works and whether it’s right for you.
Why It Matters
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to removing financial and practical barriers to care. By offering fully funded access, we’re opening up the program to people who may not have had the means to seek support in the past — something that has been at the heart of AIR since its inception.
Together, our goals are to:
- Deliver safe, personalised detox from alcohol in the comfort of home
- Promote sustainable lifestyle changes and healthy habits
- Support physical and mental recovery through medically validated methods
The pilot program allows us to provide high-quality care to a defined number of eligible patients, while collecting valuable feedback to guide future expansion so more people can access this type of support in the future.
Eligibility Criteria
To ensure patient safety, this service is available to low- to moderate-risk patients who meet the following criteria:
- Drink fewer than 30 standard drinks per day
(This helps ensure withdrawal can be managed safely in a home setting.) - No major untreated psychiatric conditions
(Such as active psychosis, recent suicide attempts, or severe unmanaged mental illness.) - A safe, stable, and private home environment
(To allow rest, monitoring, and access to support if needed.) - A willing and reliable support person who can remain with the patient throughout the 7-day detox
(This person plays a critical role in ensuring safety, providing emotional support, and communicating with our medical team when necessary.)
These criteria are in place to help us deliver a safe, effective, and supported withdrawal experience tailored to each patient’s needs.
How to Access the Program
Referrals for this limited, fully funded program are available exclusively through QuIHN and Lives Lived Well. If you or someone you know may be eligible, please contact one of these organisations to discuss options.
Thank you to Gold Coast PHN for funding this program and for their shared commitment to improving access to alcohol withdrawal support in our community.
